Ms O'CONNOR - Thank you, Chair. Premier, the Westbury Prison site in a nature reserve, is hugely problematic. It's funded in the Budget. Are you prepared to look at any other site rather than a nature reserve which has numerous threatened and endangered species on it?

Mr GUTWEIN - As a result of consultation with that community it became obvious that they wouldn't have accepted that prison being in the commercial area, albeit outside of the Westbury township, which surprised me when you consider some of the businesses that are currently operating there and the noise and lights. We moved it to the reserve. I think that is a reasonable location for it.

Ms O'CONNOR - Have you walked it?

Mr GUTWEIN - I have been on that reserve. I did go and look at that reserve -

Ms O'CONNOR - Did you hear all the birds?

Mr GUTWEIN - That reserve is from memory 70 hectares, maybe a little more. The prison site is around 15 hectares, 17 hectares. A portion of that site will be utilised, not all of it. Through the planning process we will investigate any matters of biodiversity or fauna and flora that we need to.
