That the House:

1. Notes the unfair competitive advantage that major industrials in Tasmania have over small business due to their bargaining power when negotiating electricity prices;

2. Agrees that:

 (a) while most of the profits from major industrials leave Tasmania and flow into boardrooms of multinational companies around the world, small businesses are owned by ordinary Tasmanians, many of whom have taken significant financial risk to follow their business dreams and passion; and

(b) the Government should take steps to level the playing field by providing an electricity bill rebate to small businesses with separate premises, and by re-establishing energy efficiency programs for small businesses.  (2 June 2015)
