Good Riddance to the Ocean Monarch

The Ocean Monarch oil rig arrived in the Derwent River without a by-your-leave or any biosecurity checks, and anchored at the entrance to Ralph’s Bay. After 11 weeks of sustained public concern and criticism about the risk it presented to our marine environment, the oil rig has finally departed. 

Stewardship Certification Removal for Macquarie Harbour Salmon Not Surprising

News the last two salmon companies left farming in Macquarie Harbour are pre-emptively removing their Aquaculture Stewardship Council eco-branding from products as we head into a hot El Niño summer is not surprising - especially given 1.35 million fish died there last year.
