Gun Theft Figures Confirm Need to Dump Liberals’ Dangerous Policy

Rosalie Woodruff MP | Greens’ Police spokesperson

The report released today by Gun Control Australia shows firearms thefts have doubled over the last decade. Even more concerning, Tasmania showed a far higher number of guns stolen per capita than any other Australian state.

Gun Control Australia’s research shows 8% of all gun thefts happen in Tasmania, even though only 2% of the national population live here.

Duck Shooters Need Knowledge of Gun Safety

Rosalie Woodruff MP | Greens Environment spokesperson

The comments, and apparent lack of understanding of gun laws, from the President of Field Hunting and Conservation are extremely concerning.

Mr Darke, who represents 1100 armed duck hunters, is saying he isn’t sure who's at fault if a shooter fires into a fog and hits an unseen person. It is always the responsibility of a shooter to have a clear line of sight before they fire.

If the head of a major hunting body isn't clear on these basic safety laws, it does not bode well.

Restricting the 6-shot Adler

Rosalie Woodruff MP | Greens Police and Emergency Management spokesperson

The Minister is refusing to take action to protect the community from the rapid fire 6-shot Adler shotgun, and is confusing the issue by only talking about the 8-shot Adler.

It’s a core responsibility of government to keep the community safe. The Minister is trying to hide behind “national discussions” to avoid making a decision, but the 6-shot Adler is here and we need to act now.
