Labor Refuses to Rule Out Privatising TasNetworks

Rosalie Woodruff MP | Greens’ Energy spokesperson

This morning on ABC Radio, Labor’s Michelle O’Byrne refused to take the sale of TasNetworks ‘off the table’, in a short-sighted attempt to fund possible election commitments.

Electricity is an essential service. The Tasmanian Government has an obligation to provide the infrastructure needed to deliver that electricity at the lowest possible cost.

Liberals Ignore Councils on TasWater

Andrea Dawkins MP | Greens' Water spokesperson

Today’s Local Government Association of Tasmania meeting on the government takeover of TasWater was a forgone conclusion.  The Liberal Government’s mind was already made up.

Treasurer and Local Government Minister, Peter Gutwein’s authoritarian attitude towards councils in his political quest is unbelievable.  He ignored TasWater’s pleas for funding and Greens’ questioning on the shocking state of Tasmania’s water and sewerage infrastructure for years, before making his snap decision to take over TasWater.

Greens Release Policy Initiative for Grassroots Led Regional Development

Andrea Dawkins MP | Greens' Primary Industries, Northern Tasmania and Tourism spokesperson

The Tasmanian Greens today launched a policy initiative that will give communities in regional Tasmania the tools, support and funding they need to deliver economic resilience and prosperity.

The Reinvesting in Regions – Grassroots Leadership in Tasmanian Communities initiative acknowledges that Tasmanians living in rural and regional communities are best equipped to shape their own future investment and infrastructure needs.

Tasmanians Paying for Liberals' War On Councils

Rosalie Woodruff MP | Greens Local Government spokesperson

The Liberals' relentless war on councils risks local service delivery and increases in rates for Tasmanians.

Local Government Minister, Peter Gutwein's amalgamation agenda is written into all of his actions since taking office.

The Liberals' key planning adviser openly campaigned for years on council amalgamation as Director of the Property Council.

Gutwein's Water and Sewerage Mess

Andrea Dawkins MP | Greens Member for Bass

The Treasurer and Member for Bass, Peter Gutwein, again refused to take responsibility for Launceston's ailing water and sewerage infrastructure.

After denying all responsibility in Question Time, Treasurer Gutwein left the House in a hurry. Leaving a powerless backbencher to try and justify his decision to ignore his constituents.

Treasurer Gutwein hid behind a backbencher when we raised the issue of Launceston's water and sewerage infrastructure as a Matter of Public Importance in Parliament.

Greens Deliver for Northern Tasmania

Andrea Dawkins MP | Greens Member for Bass

Budgets are about values and priorities. Liberal backbencher Sarah Courtney MP's claims that Greens have forgotten northern Tasmania in our Alternative Budget is rubbish.

If Ms Courtney wants to find a Member for Bass who is missing in action, all she has to do is look to her Treasurer.

Treasurer Gutwein ignored Launceston's ailing water and sewerage infrastructure in the State Budget, content for sewage to flow into the Tamar, and onto the streets.
