Hidding Confirms Federal Liberals Undermining NDIS

Cassy O'Connor MP | Greens Leader and Human Services spokesperson

Transport Minister, Rene Hidding, has confirmed in Parliament today that the groundbreaking National Disability Insurance Scheme is being gradually but surely undermined by his Federal Colleagues.

The Greens have long been strong supporters of the NDIS because we recognise it is a life-changing and profound reform that has given people with a disability choice and control over the supports they receive.

Full NDIS Scheme Will Change Lives

Cassy O'Connor MP | Greens Leader and Human Services spokesperson

Thousands of Tasmanians living with a disability will be able to access the supports they need to live more independently, access training and employment and achieve their goals with the NDIS full scheme rolling out today across the State.

Once it is fully rolled out to all age groups in Tasmania over the next three years, around 10 600 Tasmanians living with disability will be accessing supports and affordable housing through the NDIS.

NDIS Certainty Welcome

Cassy O'Connor MP | Greens Leader and Human Services spokesperson

The Tasmanian Greens warmly welcome the announcement today of details on the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) two and a half years after this life-changing and positive reform came in to effect in Tasmania.

It was always the plan that the full scheme would begin to roll out from 1 July 2016, in order to deliver the NDIS to around 9600 Tasmanians living with disability who are outside the 15-24 age cohort who were part of the trial.
