Barnett Gets Hysterical Again

Cassy O’Connor MP | Greens' Leader

As the State election draws closer Resources Minister, Guy Barnett, is becoming more and more desperate and hysterical.

To claim the Tarkine is 'ripe for mining' and to ignore sound conservation practice is to fundamentally misunderstand that this wilderness is recognised globally for its outstanding natural and cultural values

Mining gross value added in North West Tasmania has, in fact, declined under the Liberals.

Scott Jordan Announced as Greens’ Lead Candidate for Braddon

Cassy O’Connor MP | Greens' Leader

As Greens Leader, I am today delighted to launch Tarkine defender, Burnie local and community volunteer, Scott Jordan, as the Tasmanian Greens' lead candidate for Braddon.

We are really happy and proud to have Scott represent us in Braddon.

Scott is a great Tasmanian who has devoted his life to defending Tasmania's environmental treasures, particularly the takayna/Tarkine.

Desperate Liberals Mislead over Crown Land

Cassy O'Connor MP | Greens' Leader

In the middle of a private developer feeding frenzy over public Crown Land assets, including treasured coastal areas, the Liberals have released a laughably desperate list of properties sold under the previous government.

Every government, to some extent, will make available for sale or lease public property that is either surplus to requirements, no longer in use or could be put to a substantially better use.

Protect the Tarkine for NW Jobs and Environment

Andrea Dawkins MP | Greens' Tourism spokesperson

Today's news that Forestry roading in the Trowutta Blackwood forests directly threatens nesting habitat for the Wedge-tailed eagle is alarming.   All practices must be stopped immediately and a full investigation undertaken.

Breeding habitat of one of the State's iconic and endangered species is being directly threatened. This strengthens the case to protect the area.
