Groom Reveals Arm End Entitlement

Rosalie Woodruff MP | Greens Member for Franklin

The government's helping hand in turning the state reserve at Arm End at South Arm over to developers of a private golf course has been revealed this morning.

In an extraordinary outburst Minister Groom declared that his brother was "entitled to do whatever he wants to do".

In Question Time today, Minister Groom confirmed the suspicions of many - talking up the luxury aspects of the Three Capes 'experience' this morning, but ignoring the burning question from ordinary Tasmanians, “Can I do the walk without forking out $500?”

The Hodgman Government's passionate desire to log, mine and increase private development in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area not only shows a reckless disregard for its values but also the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.

Minister Groom's obfuscating and empty statements about 'traditional industries' in question time reveal a stunning disregard for Tasmania's protected places.

The government's position is clear - they think they are above UNESCO.
