Greens Release Policy Initiative for Grassroots Led Regional Development

Andrea Dawkins MP | Greens' Primary Industries, Northern Tasmania and Tourism spokesperson

The Tasmanian Greens today launched a policy initiative that will give communities in regional Tasmania the tools, support and funding they need to deliver economic resilience and prosperity.

The Reinvesting in Regions – Grassroots Leadership in Tasmanian Communities initiative acknowledges that Tasmanians living in rural and regional communities are best equipped to shape their own future investment and infrastructure needs.

Sustainable Tourism Way Forward for Tassie

Andrea Dawkins MP | Greens Tourism spokesperson

The Greens welcome the visitors that are coming to our shores, but warn the government to protect our wild places and regional communities from ruin.

Decisions we make now will determine whether tourism is a sustainable, long term industry, which benefits future generations of Tasmanians, or a short term boom and bust.

We don't want to be faced with overdevelopment, a degraded wilderness, disappointed tourists and locals, and dwindling economic returns.

Andrea Dawkins MP | Greens Arts spokesperson

Dear Editor

Is Andrew Nikolic serious?

He recently defended the NPEA and changes to art funding stating that the “measures are not a cut in funding to the arts portfolio, but simply broadening the access to funding”. This statement, as well as his insinuation that regional communities would benefit, is completely misleading, if not false.
